Gandhian principles: A contemporary overview

Gandhi, who had won thousands of hearts struggled severely for an independent India. He followed non violent paths to fight against opposers to claim India as a fully independent nation. Gandhi's contributions to his nation and the world was nonetheless momentous, irrespective of quantifiable success as well as failures. In important ways, he prepared India for self rule, at least in a conventional sense. His techniques of non violence struggles, having greatly matured from it's earliest development in South Africa, proved its ability to unify a significant proportion of the population in exerting political pressures and forms of resistance.

In this contemporary india, the harsh realities towards the Democratic citizen by cruel ruling elite turned violent over years. They put forward anti-constitutional rules and principles; instead of promoting oneness and equal consideration for all. India moves on in an undemocratic manner forcing it's citizens to accept such brutal laws. The present Indian administrators, who posses anti-secularism cut democracy at its root level by introducing new acts will  institutionalise the ideological position of ruling party such as Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC), Farm Acts and Uniform Civil code. They aroused country wide agitation and widespread resentment against these bills. The apprehension has been building up ever since the Modi Government pushed the Citizenship Bill in Parliament in 2016; even as the supreme court mandated exercise of updating the National Register of Citizen which was updated in the state on the basis of Assam Accord, stood as major impediments to the Modi Government in realising the Sangh's dream of making secular India a Hindu Rasthra. And North Eastern Part of India did not approve the game plan of Modi Government and BJP- RSS combine to tamper with the preamble of the constitution and grant citizenship on the basis of religion. The farm Acts also gained widespread popularity through the massive response of farmers all over India. It is that the farming community sees the piece of legislation as a ruse to allow corporate entry to trade in agricultural commodities and give private companies the right to enter into agreements with farmers without any government control, supervision or intervention.

Along with the farmer's agitation, the ghastly gang rapeand murder of a 19- Year - Old Dalit Women at Hathras village in Western Uttar Pradesh and the blatant efforts at covering up the falling of the government and the police in the investigation of the incident has added to the discomfiture of the BJP Leadership, especially Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath.

The verdict in Ayodhya Babari Madjid Demolition case by a special Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) court in Lucknow also came in the context, adding to the overall political debate. Among these religious, political issues there exists various administrative faults such as the centralization of financial resources that intensified under the Modi Government, as seen in the transition to GST and the response to the revenue shortfall of states amid the Covid 19 Pandemic. It is one of the many engregious ways in which rules governing the constitutionally  mandated sharing financial resources between the centre and tje state have been subverted.

By the time, India became a brutal country  for women where recent incidents of rape and murder in Hyderabad, Unnao highlight the alarming rise in violent crimes against women in a country that celebrate hyper- masculine nationalism and vows to protect the honour of Mother India  while reducing the bodies of women to arenas of violent struggle. The failure of the state machinery to respond approximately to such crimes adds to the human rights violations. The gruesome rape and murder outraged the nation along with murdering of muslims and dalits by mobs under the grab of protecting cows. Gradually, the bloodlust has spread through the entire nation, with people demanding instance justice.

A great saying:" No Power on earth can subjugate you when you are armed with the sword of ahimsa. It ennobles both the victor and the vanquished".

It is said that Mahatma Gandhi's Impact on the people he met and spoke to was everlasting and the rules and principles which he put was believed forever. Though, Gandhi's notion and perspectives were not given due value and Gandhian Views are getting degraded day by day.

Let's dream for an India which upholds Gandhian Principles and eliminate all kinds of oppressions and discriminalities on the basis of  caste, creed and religion. And to give due respect to all individuals irrespective of their cultural and religious identities.
